Home Inspection HartfordConnecticut's Department of Consumer Protection administers the licensing of real estate inspection professionals in Hartford and across the state. They currently have six classifications for real estate inspection licensing: State Certified General Inspectors may appraise all property types involving any transaction value or complexity. They have have 180 hours of education and 3000 hours of inspection experience with a 30 month time span. State Certified Residential Inspectors may appraise 1-4 family properties involving any level of transaction value and complexity. Their education must include 120 hours of study, and they must accumulate 2,500 hours of inspection experience in a 2 years period. State Provisional Licensed Inspectors must be under the supervision of a certified inspector. They are limited to the practice limitations of their supervising inspector. They must have 75 hours of real estate inspection study. They do not require experience. These types of licenses are not being issued although those with current licenses can have them renewed. Limited General Inspectors can appraise all property types for non-federally related real estate transactions.
