Home Inspection ChicagoHome inspection licensing for Chicago home inspection professionals is administered and regulated by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation division. Licensed inspectors must meet federal and state licensing guidelines. The office has created three classifications for real estate inspectors: Certified Residential Real Estate Inspectors, Certified General Real Estate Inspectors or Associate Real Estate Inspectors. The latter requires no actual inspection experience. The first two types however have these requirements in education and inspection experience: Certified General Real Estate Inspectors rank have have accomplished 3000 hours of inspection experience within a 30 months period. 1,500 hours of that experience must be in non-residential inspection work. Certified Residential Real Estate Inspectors require 2,500 hours of inspection experience during a 2 year period.
